Chick number two

Picture
The second parrotlet chick hatched today. It's the smaller pink blob on the right.

It caused me a moment of panic when I first looked at it because it doesn't have dark eyes like I'm used to (the eyes aren't open yet but you can see the colour through the skin). I then remember that lutino, albino and fallow parrotlets exist so it looks like my green pied pair are probably split for a red-eyed mutation unless this chick is a random fluke. I'll be interested to see what colour it ends up being.

That's great news. And exciting about the potential colour mutation. I've only seen one picture of an albino parrotlet, but he was a handsome chap.

I want it to grow up already so I can find out what colour it is! Unfortunatley, red-eyed mutations are more likely to have genetic defects thnt green parrotlets so I hope that it's going to be ok. It seems to be growing normally so far though :)
